Our latest client bottling project has been delivered and before we get stuck into the next one, we’ll take a pause and reflect on how it all went.

Our client is an IT consultancy company based in Japan, who this year are celebrating their 10 year anniversary. To commemorate such a fantastic milestone for their business, the company owner asked us to assist in creating a bottling for this very spacial occasion.

Cask selection is definitely the most exciting part. Stravaig Spirits have an array of casks that we are maturing for our own brands as well as a selection for private clients, white label and exclusive release projects. Finding the perfect dram that suits the taste and budget can be tricky sometimes, particularly if you are using a cask broker who doesn’t usually have direct access to samples and recent regauge information. No problem here as if we don’t already have it to hand, we can usually get it very quickly out of the cask and over to the customer to taste.

After a short selection process, the client settled on a stunning Linkwood 14 year old Cask matured in a 1st fill bourbon barrel.

This project was all about getting the best value without compromising on the taste and look of the product, ensuring that the budget we had could go a long way for the client. The preference was a very traditional theme but with an element of luxury. Another factor for the client was to be as closely involved in the project until the very end, so communication was key - we really ensured that everything was documented and shared at every step, from the design process and edits right until the day it was bottled, taking photos and providing lots of information throughout.

Glassware - ‘tall round’ whisky bottle. Something that almost all bottling halls carry in stock.
Labels - Tintoretto gresso coated. Individually numbered bottled for added exclusivity and a premium gold foil.

On reflection another relatively straight forward bottling project, made easier with a very communicative and open client who listened to advise but also had a good grasp of what he wanted in an end product. We had a slight delay in getting the bottles shipped off as we were short of gift cartons (the supplier sent less than needed), which was rectified within a week. However, little mistakes and slip ups can quickly add to the length of the project so it’s always a good idea to double check everything straight away when it arrives at the warehouse and not wait until bottling day!
